In the last weekend of February, Lena Peterson (lenapetersonphotography.com), Amanda Carso (amandacarso.com), and I took part in the age old, American tradition of the road trip. Our destination was a photography convention near Santa Barbara, CA. Amanda had never been to the west coast, and it seemed like the perfect situation for a road trip. We stuck to US highway 101 California and State Route 1 California for most of the trip.
Through San Fransisco, Monterrey, Big Sur, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara. On the return trip we hit Humboldt Redwood State Park which was a chance for me to scout out the venue for a wedding I’m shooting there in June.
While driving and taking in the scenery, I could feel the batteries that charge motivation and personal work charging. It had been too long since I had stopped to witness the ocean. This weekend was the weekend with terrible rain and high seas, a restaurant on a pier tumbled into the water in Santa Monica while we were there–even so, I had the thought that I was lucky to be at the sea when the weather was like that.
These are a selection of photographs taken on the journey.
