stephanie and myles // olympic national park elopement
Stephanie contacted me back in July on 2015 for her and Myles upcoming Olympic National Park elopement. They had never been to Washington State but had come across some photography in of the park that they fell in love with. For good reason too. There are few parks in the country as raw and remote as the Olympic National Park, specifically the Hoh Rainforest. The Hoh Rainforest is a section of the west slopes of the Olympics scrunched up against the Pacific Ocean. The rain from the ocean comes day after day and accumulates over 12 feet of rain a year. Wow. Sitka Spruce and Douglas Fir trees, the icons of the Pacific Northwest, tower 300 feet overhead with 3 feet of moss hanging like old beards. The forest floor is softened by thick moss and sword ferns.
I’m planning my elopement this fall in Olympic National Park. We are very flexible with the dates well, because we are on no schedule for any of this! We are flying to Washington at the end of September or early October and are still hashing out the details. A photographer is, of course, a huge part of our planning. It’s very important we capture this day to share with everyone back home. I see you’ve done a few shoots in or around the park. Since we are from Philadelphia and have never been to the area we are looking for some professional guidance. I look forward to hearing back from you!
The Olympic National Forest is my home country and was able to make some recommendations on when and where to photograph. I also helped them find the Quinault Lodge where they spent the night before.
