White Wolf Wedding… shhhhh It’s hidden

Tucked up away in the Squaw Valley near Lake Tahoe is White Wolf wedding venue. Don’t ask me how to find it, I was sworn to secrecy and I have no idea who runs the place. The place, the magical little alpine meadow and pond pressed up against the cliffs of the Sierras and overlooking the world class Squaw Valley. That’s where Shelly’s and Tayler’s personalities and love found expression. “It was an intimate, joyful, and sacred ceremony that everyone said was ‘so us’. The celebration, which lasted for several days, was made up of our closest friends and loved ones.”

‘”Tayler was born and raised in the tiny hamlet of Alpine Meadows, a mountain valley near Lake Tahoe. We wanted to get married somewhere that was special to us both, as well as somewhere that was peaceful, intimate, and in the natural world. After searching unsuccessfully for several months near our home in San Francisco, we heard about a family friend’s property in Alpine. Within days we had visited the property and fell in love with its fields of wildflowers, views of Tayler’s home mountains, and the serenity of the wilderness. We had 75 guests and the wedding took a little under a year to plan.’”

Documentary Wedding Photography

As you scroll through these photos, pay attention to people’s expressions, their actions, and the moments that fill in the gaps. This is the essence of documentary wedding photography. Let me guide you through their day so you can take a moment to sit back and appreciate beauty.

As Seen on Boho Weddings

That’s right, Shelly & Tayler got their wedding featured on international wedding blog Boho Weddings. Check it out.

That’s a lovely photograph, but let’s back up. The day started lazily in Squaw Valley. While Tayler got ready in another location, I hung around with Shelly and her sisters. Coffee, snacks, and a cheery vibe dominated those few hours.

“We worked together to make the save the dates. Shelly watercolored the mountains and Tayler did the handwritten text. We printed them at our friend’s house. For the formal invitations, we hired Starboard Press to design the invite and we made the info card about the weekend events ourselves and included it in the invitation envelope.”

Meanwhile, the open air forest White Wolf wedding venue was being prepared.

Ah yes, the processional. This is where it really begins.

“We were married on a silk rug that we found at an antique market near our home; we liked the idea of having the place where we were married with us forever. We hope it becomes a family heirloom.”

The dotted Swiss ivory chiffon dress is a Galina purchased from David’s Bridal and the shoes from HushPuppies. Shelly’s cute little turquoise dinner jacket was made by Branch & Blossom
